- Shooting that killed four people happens after two others in the country who killed 18 others in March
- Episodes rekindle firearms debates in the country
- There is still no information on the motivations of the perpetrator of the shots
Four people, including a child, were killed on Wednesday night when a man opened fire on a commercial building in the city of Orange, south of Los Angeles, police said.
This shooting comes after two others who killed 18 in the United States in March and relaunched the debate on firearms in the country.
The attacker, whose motives are still unknown, was also shot after police intervention and was taken to a hospital. Her condition is critical, according to police officer Jennifer Amat.
Law enforcement officials are trying to clarify whether he was injured in the exchange of fire with the police, or whether he self-inflicted himself.
The police did not provide details about the victims of the tragedy, but added that a fifth person, an injured woman, was also hospitalized, and her condition is very serious.

The shooting took place around 17:30 local time, on the top floor of a small commercial building. According to a local newspaper, it houses offices of an insurance company, a financial consultancy and a cell phone repair shop.
According to the Los Angeles Times, police officers who arrived at the scene were shot and reacted.
A man, who asked not to be identified, told local channel KTLA5 that the situation was “terrifying”.
Another, Cody Lev, told local media that he heard three explosions, followed by silence and then alarm sirens.
“We haven’t had a similar incident in Orange since 1997,” said Jennifer Amata, referring to a shooting that left four dead.
“It is a tragedy for the victims, their families, our community and the police department,” he added.
“It is horrible, devastating. We are wholeheartedly with the families affected by this terrible tragedy,” said California Governor Gavin Newsom.
“I am deeply saddened by the information about an Orange County shooting, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families,” California lawmaker Katie Porter tweeted.
This episode follows two attacks in the United States in recent weeks, which have relaunched the debate on the proliferation of firearms in the country.
On March 22, an attacker killed ten people in a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, less than a week after a man killed eight people in Asian massage parlors in Georgia, Atlanta.
