With the rate of new infections falling and a rapid vaccination across the UK, the country is advancing to the next stage of reopening next week. Johnson promised to go to a pub in person for a beer when activities are resumed.

People should continue to work from home if they can and minimize domestic travel, said the government, which also confirmed that it is studying a Covid-19 status certification system, or vaccination passport, to help resume major events.

The British government’s reopening plan foresees four steps that must be followed. The country does not advance to the next phase until a team of experts examines the epidemiological data currently available.

According to the Johnson government, cinemas, hotels, stadiums – up to a maximum of 10,000 people – and service inside restaurants may open from May 17, the date from which members of different houses will be able to meet in closed spaces.

According to the British plan, full reopening could be achieved in the summer of the northern hemisphere – from 21 June. The government says it will evaluate the release of bars and nightclubs.
