The hours before the Copa del Rey final, which opposes the Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad, at the Olympic Stadium in La Cartuja in Seville, are not being easy.
Without being able to watch the match live, Athletic fans took to the streets in Bilbao in the early afternoon, but what would be a party day has become a scene of violence.
Thousands of supporters flocked to the San Mamés Stadium, without any social distance to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, contrary to the indications of the Basque government, which had asked people to see the meeting at home.
In view of this, the police were called to the scene to try to disperse the crowd, but they were met with some hostility, as many people threw bottles and other objects to the authorities, in addition to having broken some glass and set two rubbish containers on fire.
According to El País, authorities have already confirmed that a young woman was transported to the hospital after being hit by a glass bottle and several people were identified and punished for violating current health rules due to the new coronavirus.
The final of the King’s Cup between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad will take place this evening, starting at 8:30 pm.
