After the surprising stumble in the previous match against Nimes, Lille returned this afternoon to the isolated leadership in Ligue 1, and did so in the best way, winning (1-0) at Paris Saint-Germain – which no longer it had been happening for almost 25 years -, precisely the team with whom I shared the first place of the table before the meeting.
With José Fonte, Tiago Djaló and Renato Sanches at eleven – Xeka was not an option -, the formation guided by Christophe Galtier came to triumph in the 20th minute: Sanches, one of the best on the pitch, launched Ikoné in depth and this asstoned Jonathan David, who came up alone in the big area. The Canadian’s shot still deflected before beating Keylor Navas.
In the complementary season, PSG – without the injured Danilo Pereira – approached the opposite area, but Neymar, Mbappé and company never showed enough inspiration to break the opposing wall, led by Fonte.
Lille, lost some physical freshness in the second half, stopped counterattacking so much, but still forced Navas to tight defense, in the last ten minutes: Burak Yilmaz had everything to make it 2-0, but the Costa Rican prevented the goal .
In the final moments, Neymar and Tiago Djaló were expelled for accumulating yellow cards, after a move discussed between the two at the sideline.
The move that dictated the expulsion of Neymar and Djaló:
All in all, Lille studied the lesson better, beat the almighty PSG in the heart of Parque dos Princes, and are again in the lead (with seven games to go), with three more points than Parisians, four more than Monaco and six than Lyon, who have yet to play.
Earlier, Monaco thrashed 4-0 at home to Metz, in a match in which the Portuguese Florentino Luís and Gelson Martins were the option for Niko Kovac in the last 15 minutes.
The goals of the Monegasque formation were scored by Cesc Fabregas (50m), Kevin Volland (52m) and Bem Yedder (77m and 89m).
