This Saturday, FC Panevezys, from Portuguese João Luís (head coach), Luís Olim (assistant) and left-back Rafael Floro, won this Saturday’s Lithuanian Super Cup in football, by beating Zalgiris, on penalties.
After a two-goal equalizer at the end of regular time, the game was decided to break the 11-meter mark, with the Portuguese celebrating for the second time in the service of the Panevezys team, after the Lithuanian Cup in October 2020 ( was the club’s first title founded in 2015).
Former goalkeeper Marítimo and ex-Varzim Rafael Broetto, was the figure of the game, when he came in to defend the penalties, stopping the goal of Zalgiris on four occasions: the tie was 3-2 in favor of Panevezys, in the end of six attempts on each side.
João Luís joined Luís Olim to his technical team for the role of assistant coach in January. Both are from Madeira. Rafael Floro has been with the club since 2019.
