Mayor Márcio Melo Gomes (Republicans), from the municipality of Mongaguá, on the coast of the State of São Paulo, wept in a live broadcast when talking about the loss of his father and brother, in the same week, due to complications from Covid-19. Both were traders.

The mayor said he would have preferred them to have gone bankrupt than to have lost their lives to the disease. The information is from the portal Gazeta de São Paulo.
The emotional statement was given at the end of the broadcast, held on Tuesday (30), to inform the population about the progress of the pandemic in Mongaguá.
He also criticized the lack of awareness on the part of the population, who have not respected the restrictive measures, and responded to the negative comments, made by social networks, against the rules in force.
His mayor’s father, Givaldo Alves Gomes, 64, died on April 22. His brother, Givaldo Melo Gomes Junior, was 33 years old and died on Sunday morning (28).
