“We received 766 animals throughout the year 2020. This is the release of the remnants of the end of the year and the beginning of 2021. Some had a longer treatment and a slower recovery”, explains biologist Patrícia Valentim.
The release occurred simultaneously in four different places, where the species live. Four teams left the Mini Zoo towards Fazenda Guajuviras (Canoas), Cachoeirinha, Nova Santa Rita and São Leopoldo.
“We are very grateful to be able to do this work. Some of these animals were orphans and had to be rehabilitated to be released. Others came in very weak, like the hawk quiri-quiri and teiú. This one had glue all over its body. It was found in a mouse trap and received a specific treatment for the removal of that glue. Everything worked “, says veterinarian Isadora Favreto.
