Energy: Copel launches series of videos and podcasts on the SDGs

Copel launched on Wednesday (31) the first episode of the Energia da Sustentabilidade webseries, which addresses the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relationship with the electricity sector. The launch webinar featured a chat between the Environmental Manager of the Global Compact Brazil Network, Elisa Badziack, the sustainability specialist and one of those responsible for coordinating the prioritization of the SDGs in the electricity sector, Pedro Barizon, and the superintendent from Copel’s Corporate Sustainability and Corporate Governance Coordination, Luisa Nastari.

In addition to addressing the SDGs, their goals and the actions carried out by companies to make the UN Agenda 2030 a reality, the webinar contextualized the news on the topic, its urgency and visibility due to the pandemic. From the presentation of the debut video of the webseries, the participants went deeper into the subject and talked about how compliance with the SDGs is going and how the electricity sector has contributed to making the prioritized objectives a reality – with emphasis on Copel’s actions in this regard. .

Luisa Nastari highlighted the recent Carbon Neutrality Plan, Copel’s commitment to zero emissions by 2030, and spoke about the corporate programs that have been putting the SDGs into practice with the involvement of all stakeholders. Elisa Badziack addressed the increase in the adhesion of companies to the UN Global Compact in 2020, which grew 42% in the middle of the pandemic, with 349 new members, highlighting the importance that the business sector has given to the theme. Pedro Barizon cited examples of how the electricity sector is tracing the path towards the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda and the challenges to be overcome.

The online event also addressed a current view on the insertion of the ESG theme (environmental, social and governance) in the framework of companies and their long-term impacts, as well as the commitment of corporations in the relevant actions. Clear evidence that the market, investors and society are keeping an eye on this involvement.

WEBSERIES – The launch of the first video starts a series of seven productions that will be launched monthly on Copel’s website and social networks (Youtube and LinkedIn).

The videos are accompanied by the Energia da Sustentabilidade podcasts, with the initial episode already available on the main audio platforms (Soundcloud, Deezer, iTunes and Spotify). With each video release, a podcast will be released together, with respondents who will bring even more content to further the themes.
