Last weekend, police in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, arrested a group of 40 women who had been filmed naked on the balcony of a building located in the marina area. The arrest came after the images were posted on social media, which is considered a crime in the country.
According to information from the British newspaper Daily Mail, all involved are Models from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova and were participating in a shoot for an Israeli pornography site. In addition to them, the photographer and the person responsible for disseminating the images, taken from a nearby building, were also sent to the police station.
Also according to the publication, the participants in the event were accused of “public debauchery”, a crime that can result in up to six months in prison and a fine of more than R $ 7,000. “This type of inappropriate behavior does not reflect the values and ethics of Emirati society,” the police said in a statement.
A Russian diplomat heard in the report revealed that the models asked for assistance from the country’s Consulate General, but that the fact that, according to local laws, they participated in an “obscene act” makes it all the more complicated: “difficult to do anything when it comes to of such a serious criminal article. ”
According to the laws in force in the United Arab Emirates, the rules that involve all forms of expression are quite strict. In addition to the ban on the dissemination of pornography, which can lead to imprisonment even for those who comment on this type of publication, there is a rule that authorizes media companies to block access to this type of content.
