HBO released a collection of posters and a video for “The Nevers”. With more than three minutes, the preview features many unpublished scenes, introduced by testimonies from the large cast and showrunner Jane Espenson, presenting the characters and the premise of the attraction.
A veteran producer of “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer”, Espenson replaces the creator of that and this series, Joss Whedon, who is not even mentioned in the material, after being removed amid reports of abuse and bullying by actors from “League of Justice “and” Buffy “itself. Although Whedon remains credited, after directing the pilot, he was dropped from the show in the sixth episode. Espenson also helped write the first six episodes, which represent half of the inaugural season.
“The Nevers” is a series of superheroes from the Victorian era and follows the rise of the Touched: people, most of them women, who suddenly manifest unusual abilities – some charming and some creepy. Among them are Amalia True (Laura Donnelly), a mysterious and impulsive widow, and Penance Adair (Ann Skelly), a brilliant young inventor, who intend to protect those whom London society at the time decides to attack. But not all Tocadas think the same. Some just want to do evil.
In addition to Laura Donnely (“Outlander”) and Ann Skelly (“Vikings”), the production cast also features Olivia Williams (“Counterpart”), James Norton (“Lovely Women”), Tom Riley (“Da Vinci’s Demons”) , Nick Frost (“Truth Seekers”), Ben Chaplin (“Letter to the King”), Pip Torrens (“Preacher”), Zackary Momoh (“Doctor Sleep”), Amy Manson (“The White Princess”), Rochelle Neil ( “Das Boot”), Eleanor Tomlinson (“Poldark”), Denis O’Hare (“American Horror Story”) and Elizabeth Berrington (“Yesterday”).
The series will premiere on Sunday (11/4).
