President Jair Bolsonaro published on his Facebook page, this Monday morning (April 5, 2021), a video in which the mayor of Chapecó (SC), João Rodrigues (PSD), encourages governors and mayors to adopt the treatment early against covid-19.

Watch the mayor’s speech (3min15s):

“Listen to the mayor of Chapecó”, Bolsonaro said, while sharing the video, which was published by the mayor this Sunday (4.Apr.2021).

Early treatment against covid-19 has no proven efficacy and is contraindicated by scientific medical societies and international and national bodies, such as WHO (World Health Organization) and Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency).

In the video, the mayor of the city of Santa Catarina says that he managed to reduce the cases and deaths by covid-19 in the municipality as “Simplest in the world”. “Here in Chapecó, we use all protocols. The early treatment protocol was also adopted. Attention, governor mayors, do not be afraid. Open your doors to the treatment of your patients with everything possible ”, he declares.

“Allow doctors who want to do early treatment to do it. Give support. This is what we did in Chapecó: 3 outpatient clinics, 1 specifically for early treatment ”, it says.

João Rodrigues also states that he made an option that he considered important in command of the municipality’s health policies. According to him, the choice was not to debate whether early treatment is “good or bad”.

“Don’t talk about politics, don’t debate whether early treatment is good or bad. Do not listen. Do everything that has to be done. This is exactly what is working in our city ”, it says.

PREFECT DESMENT BULLETIN

In the video, the mayor of Chapecó says the number of daily deaths in Chapecó “Went from 18 to two or 3”. He does not quote the dates on which the decrease would have occurred. The epidemiological bulletins released by the municipality’s Health Department show that, in reality, there was a marked increase in the pandemic in 2021 in the city.

The total number of deaths from the disease in Chapecó went from 127 on January 4 to 536 that Sunday (April 4, 2021). In the past 3 months, therefore, 409 people have died in the municipality, almost 4 times more than the total deaths by covid-19 from March to December 2020.

In the video, recorded from inside a semi-intensive care unit, the mayor minimizes the amount of hospitalizations in ICUs (intensive care units) in the city. According to him, the municipality has to “Celebrate too much” for just “Any number” of people hospitalized in intensive care.

On Sunday (April 4), 130 people were hospitalized in ICUs in the city. On January 4, there were only 38.

HERE IS THE INTEGRATION OF THE TESTIMONY OF JOÃO RODRIGUES, MAYOR OF CHAPECÓ (SC):

“We are here in the semi-intensive ICU of the Events Center. To our joy, this Easter, look how it is: there is no patient. The entire team of professionals gathered here, chatting in a relaxed way, talking about the difficult moments that went on inside.

Take a good look at the finished structure: it is a real hospital that we set up. My question always remains: how did Chapecó go through this phase in less than 60 days? We went from the worst results in Brazil to the best numbers.

Let’s go, quickly, just to recap: at the end of January and beginning of February we reached 6,000 positive cases. Today, there are less than 800 positives a day.

There were a lot of people hospitalized daily. Today, hospitalization is close to zero. We have some number of people who are admitted to the ICU.

Deaths reached 18 per day, here in Chapecó. Today, the average is 2 or 3. Before covid, the average was 5 daily deaths. Now, it’s 2 or 3.

How did we get to all of this? For God’s sake, it’s the simplest thing in the world. It is enough to have focus, faith, courage and unity in a society.

Here in Chapecó, we use all protocols. The early treatment protocol was also adopted. Attention, governor mayors, do not be afraid. Open your doors for the treatment of your patients with everything that is possible through science too, of course it does.

But allow doctors who want to do early treatment to do it. Give support. That’s what we did in Chapecó: 3 outpatient clinics, 1 specifically for early treatment. We opened all health facilities and, more than that, we did the rapid testing. So it is a set of the work: beginning, middle and end.

It doesn’t stop here today. We celebrated too much, but now we have control of the covid. Covid continues to test, treat and medicate with medical advice.

Tomorrow we are going to launch a very important service, perhaps unprecedented in our country, which is post-covid treatment, which is a large team of multidisciplinary professionals to assist the patient according to the sequel he got from the covid. This is our dear Chapecó, with the union of all, we are definitely winning.

We made a choice: don’t talk about politics, don’t debate whether early treatment is good or bad. Listen no. Do everything that has to be done. That is exactly what is working in our city. The priority is to save lives. Let’s go back to normal, work. The economy cannot stop. I embrace you all! ”
