A copy of the game Super Mario Bros. for NES it was recently sold for more than $ 660,000 at auction, after being analyzed as an almost perfect copy of the game.
According to the auction portal, carried out by Heritage Auctions, this copy dated from 1986, and was sealed and in a condition considered to be in perfect condition. Although it is not uncommon to find copies of the game for sale on the Internet, there are few times that one is found that is sealed and in perfect storage condition – practically without any damage, which increases its value in the market.
The original owner of the game will have received it as a Christmas present around 1986, and it remained in a drawer without opening a large part of the following decades. The seller even says he never thought about the game again until the day he found it and took it for evaluation.
What started out as a gift at the time considered banal, is today one of the games most appreciated by collectors.
To get an idea of the high price at which this auction ended, the “Nintendo PlayStation”, a prototype created before Sony made progress with the PS1, was sold for $ 360,000 – and this was considered a unique product on the market, and soon , quite rare. Also recently a perfect version of Super Mario Bros. 3 was sold for about $ 156,000.
