Siri gains new options and will no longer have female voice as default
Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant, has always been called female because it sounds like a woman, but that is about to change. The new beta version of iOS 14.5 adds two new voices in the English language, with the introduction of masculine tones.

This addition will not only offer more options for customizing your iPhone, but will also bring improvements to the lines to make them more natural. Thanks to the company’s neural technology, the voices must appear more realistic, without abrupt pauses or trampling words.

The two new voices bring an important variety to the virtual assistant, as it offers more diversity of diction and helps the user to better understand what is said. Check out how the new options are:

According to the TechCrunch website, the company will no longer use the female voice as Siri’s standard – instead, people will be able to choose which tone they like best in the device’s settings. There are now four options available for North American English.

This latest beta also updated Siri voices in Ireland, Russia and Italy to fit Neural technology, bringing the total to 38. There are more than 25 billion requests per month on more than 500 million devices, with support for 21 languages in 36 countries.

Identification and diversity

Apple said in a statement that she was very excited to introduce the two new voices.

“This is a continuation of Apple’s long-standing commitment to inclusion, and products and services that are designed to better reflect the diversity of the world in which we live,” celebrated the manufacturer.

The novelty is a way to escape the sexist labeling that Apple, Google and Amazon constantly receive for using only women’s voices. There are those who accuse companies of using such a device to please the male audience in order to sell more devices.

For now, there is no information regarding the arrival of the resource in other languages, which would include Brazilian Portuguese. But, since diversity has been a strong banner of the company, it is very likely that a male voice will be released soon for the virtual assistant here. Thus, it will be up to the user to decide which type of speech pleases him the most.

Which option would you choose for your iPhone? Comment.
