Traditionally or ‘April Fools’ Day’ is celebrated in April 1st. However, the game, which started in the France, will not be celebrated by the Google in 2021. For the second consecutive year, the company canceled the activities involving the date, due to the pandemic of Covid-19.
In early March, the Google confirmed the decision to its employees through a e-mail signed by the company’s vice president of global marketing, Marvin Chow.
“Over the past year, I have been so inspired by the usefulness of our products, programs and people during the most difficult times of humanity. We did it sensitively and empathy, reflecting the range of challenging experiences that so many are experiencing globally ”, begins Marvin.
“As you may remember, last year we made the decision to interrupt our long tradition of Google to celebrate the April Fools’ Day, out of respect for all those who fight against Covid-19. We should pause the jokes again for the April Fools’ Day this year. As we did last year, we must continue to find appropriate ways to bring moments of happiness for our users throughout the year ”, he concludes.
O Google usually celebrates the April 1st with pranks since the early years 2000. Since then, we have already seen the announcement of a fictional drink entitled ‘Google Gulp‘, travel plans Mars, pranks involving the Google Maps and even a translator to animals.
