New map of Call of Duty Warzone will be Verdansk in the 80s

Activision mistakenly posted a video this afternoon (31) showing part of a Call of Duty Warzone commercial and ended up revealing the game’s new map.

Apparently, the new Warzone map will be a reimagination of the current map, Verdansk, set in the 1980s. The chosen timeframe matches the date on which the latest title in the franchise, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold, takes place. War.

You can check out some of the leaked photos in the tweet below (note that depending on the moment you are reading this article, Activision may have already removed the images from the air):

This leak undermines the previous theory that Warzone’s new map would be the merging of 40 player maps from the Black Ops Cold War, as it would be unlikely that two new battle-royale maps would be simultaneous to the game.

After more than a year of its launch, it looks like Warzone will finally get its expected new map, but we will still be in Verdansk.
