Leak information about Laptops with RTX 3050 and 3050Ti GPUs

Models will have 2048 and 2560 CUDA cores, respectively

O Notebookcheck shared information about the GPUs GA107 da Nvidia for notebooks aimed at the gamer audience.

The website confirmed that laptops equipped with GPUs GeForce RTX 3050 will have 2048 CUDA clouds while models with GeForce RTX 3050Ti will have 2560 CUDA cores. Both models will be based on Nvidia’s entry-level GA107 GPUs.

Although they are simpler models, as they are video cards from RTX GeForce 3000 series, will be the first entry laptops equipped with Tensor cores and support for Ray Tracing, DLSS and other functions until then exclusive of more robust models, a very considerable update to the laptops with GTX 1600 series cards.

The expected TDP of GeForce RTX 3050 mobile chipset cards ranges from 35W on base frequencies up to 80W in frequencies in boost up to 1740 MHz, ensuring up to 7.2 TFLOPS computational power. GeForce RTX 3050Ti cards, in turn, can offer up to 8,7 TFLOPs. As a basis of comparison the consoles Series S and Series X respectively offer 4 and 12 TFLOPs, placing laptops in a intermediate level between them.

Although mobile chipsets have several benefits of the series RTX 3000, they will come equipped with just 4GB of GDDR6 memory, width of 128-bit band and frequencies 5.5GHz memory, most likely limiting resolutions up to 1080p maximum in games, not being a project designed to play in 4k.

The site also received synthetic benchmarks comparing different models of mobile GPUs, and according to the tests presented, the performance gain of the RTX 3050Ti compared to the GTX 1650Ti is 46% on the Time Spy test, 63% on Shadow of the Tomb Raider on medium and 44% on Ultra.

This considerable increase between the Turing and Amper GPUs is not exactly a surprise, but it is reason enough to take those who had plans to buy a gamer laptop to wait a few more months until the arrival of these models on the market.
