There are sturdy smartphones, and then there are the Galaxy XCover. Samsung is much better known for the Galaxy S and, obviously, for the Fold family Folders, but it already has a not inconsiderable tradition in resistant smartphones. The new generation Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 has just been announced and, as you would expect, it is built like a war tank, for the most aggressive environments.
You can forget about the curved screens with minimal edges. Every millimeter of the XCover 5 is designed to keep your smartphone running in the face of the worst challenges. Therefore, we have a robust structure that absorbs shocks and makes the XCover 5 resistant to impacts and drops with MIL-STD810G certification. However, the body is IP68 certified against water and dust and can survive immersion in water for 30 minutes.
The hardware itself is composed of an Exynos 850, octa-core, with 4GB of RAM and up to 46GB of internal storage. At your disposal you will have a 3000mAh battery with quick charge that can be replaced, and is charged thanks to USB and POGO connectors.
The selected screen is a 5.3 inch TFT LCD unit with HD resolution.
In terms of cameras we have a 16MP main unit and a 5MP front camera.
We cannot neglect the software side. In addition to physical protection, XCover 5 also has the advantages of Android 11 and Samsung’s advanced Knox protection.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 starts shipping in Europe this month.
