5G more affordable: MediaTek launches Dimensity 800U in Brazil with support for next generation networks

MediaTek is becoming a major competitor for Samsung and Qualcomm in the processor business, and now it is finally bringing the Dimensity 800U to Brazil, a chip that highlights the 5G connection for intermediary phones that adopt slightly more features such as 120Hz screens and more.

Launched in August 2020, the Dimensity 800U arrived as an evolution of the Dimensity 800 in 7nm, with 8 cores, two of which are Cortex-A76 with 2.4 GHz, while the others are Cortex-A55 with 2.0 GHz .

Samir Vani, MediaTek’s country manager in Brazil commented on some characteristics of the chip:

This chipset offers, in addition to 5G connectivity, advanced imaging and multimedia features for high-performance smartphones.

As we already said, it is a processor intended for premium intermediate cell phones, so it supports 120Hz screens with FullHD + resolution and speaking of high update rates, we also have the Mali-G57 GPU, which is capable of running several titles with good quality print shop.

In Brazil, the most recent release with the processor is the realme 7 5G. Sherry Dong, global marketing director at realme commented on the arrival of the smartphone in the country:

We are very proud to bring the first smartphone with the MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset to Brazil with the realme 7 5G, the most affordable 5G smartphone on the market. This partnership with MediaTek helps us in our mission to democratize 5G and bring this technology to more and more young people in Brazil.

It is worth mentioning that the processor still has MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology, where the chip’s modem is managed based on network quality and signal strength, saving even more battery when using the new connection.
