Microsoft postpones return to the office until after the summer

A Microsoft has decided to postpone the full reopening of its offices in Redmond and Seattle. Originally scheduled for July, the company confirmed to The Verge that Microsoft will only reopen its doors in full on the 7th of September.

Microsoft decided to change the plans after an “ongoing consultation with data and health experts”, then decided to take a more precautionary approach due to the pandemic from Covid-19. In an email sent to workers, Microsoft also notes that the postponement provides “additional flexibility” for the summer.

Note that Microsoft has already reopened doors to some of the workers, with an estimated 20% of the company’s workforce once again working in the office.
