Gmail for Android has great news! See how to activate

So far, whoever had a Google business account, the G Suite, which is now called Google Workspace, had access to a few more things in Gmail, such as tabs for Google Meet, Chat and Rooms. This was undoubtedly a simpler way to stay connected with colleagues and friends and collaborate on tasks. Now Google is expanding this integration to personal accounts, which is undoubtedly good news. Thus, anyone who has a personal Gmail account for Android will be able to access this new feature, which consists of the new Chat and Rooms tabs.

Gmail for Android has great news! See how to activate

The user of the Twitter Pratik Goswami already found this novelty and you can easily activate it on your smartphone by following a few (few) steps. As you can see in the image below, a new Chat option appears in the application settings. This finally activates the conversations and also the Rooms tab. To activate this function, click the checkmark next to it and then click Try It on the pop-up that appears.

After activating this function, you will see a new pop-up that shows the changes when you navigate back to the main Gmail screen. The pop-up includes three pages that talk about the new Gmail interface, as stated by the XDA website. It also states that thanks to it it will be possible to access emails, chats and video calls by clicking on the tabs located at the bottom.

In addition, you will also see an additional pop-up that gives you the option to disable duplicate notifications for conversations. This way you will not be notified twice for each incoming message.

The new Chat integration in Gmail is currently in an early access phase. Thus, some bugs may arise. At any time, you can disable this feature by clicking on the checkmark next to the Chat option in the settings and returning to the previous interface.

The new chat integration is enabled in version 2021.03.07.364486182 of the Gmail App for Android. So you can do the update through the link that is available here.

I remember however that the Meet tab has been available for both personal and business accounts for some time.
