Flamengo has not yet fully paid the payment to Goiás by striker Michael. On January 25 of this year, when Rubro-Negro was supposed to deposit 2.5 million euros (at the time of the transaction, in January 2020) in the accounts of the Goiás team, the Rio de Janeiro board spoke with Esmeraldino and made a new deal.
At the time, Flamengo used the good relationship it has with Goiás and argued that, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it would not be able to make the payment of 2.5 million euros scheduled for the end of January. And, to avoid fines that were foreseen in the contract in the event of a delay, the red-black dome anticipated and negotiated with Esmeraldino.
After a few days of negotiations, the agreement was sealed as follows: Rubro-Negro paid half of this amount (1,250 million euros) on February 1 and the other half was paid in five installments (250,000 euros each) until the end of the year, with the last installment in November.
After receiving bank guarantees for the installments of 250 thousand euros, Goiás, even with financial difficulties, accepted and signed the new agreement. At the time, the vice-financier, Rodrigo Tostes, was responsible for the negotiation on the Flamengo side.
