Arsenal coach says David Luiz may need knee surgery

Defender David Luiz did not participate in Arsenal’s defeat at home to Liverpool this afternoon by the English Premier League and may need to undergo knee surgery. The information was released by Spanish coach Mikel Arteta.

The Brazilian is out of the team due to knee pain and cartilage problems.

“We do not know [se precisa operar]. There are some possibilities about this, being a little more conservative with the treatment or having to go for surgery. We are talking to doctors right now to make the right decision about this, but we will see. He can be gone for a few weeks at least, “said the Arsenal coach.

Arteta also answered whether David Luiz could play again this season. Arsenal occupies only 9th place in the Premier League and is in the quarterfinals of the Europa League. The first game against Slavia Prague, from the Czech Republic, takes place on Thursday (8).

“I don’t know, I don’t know. It will depend on the decision we make. If it is more conservative, it will be short-term. If it is a little more radical with what it needs, it will take more time.”
