According to Sports, the meeting took place virtually and was chaired by the former player and vice of the São Paulo Federation, Mauro Silva. In addition to the Corinthians, Weverton and Felipe Melo, from Palmeiras, and Léo, from São Paulo, are also among the names that were present.
The athletes supported the organization and said they understood the consequences of the ban on games due to the advance of the Covid-19 pandemic. Some athletes, however, reaffirmed their preference for making matches in the state of São Paulo to avoid trips to other cities.
The FPF expects the State Government and the Public Prosecutor’s Office to respond to the entity’s proposal with new security protocols to resume the competition.
CBF does not intend to change the start date of the Brasileirão, scheduled for May 30th. Thus, the state championships need to be completed, at the latest, by the 23rd of the same month – one week before the debut.
