After the period for the commitments of the selections has ended, it is time for returns to the clubs to play what remains of the season, now without interruptions until the end of the season.
The main teams of FC Porto, Sporting and Benfica had a total of 28 players representing their respective national teams.
With 13 athletes, the blues and whites were the team with the greatest international representation, but also the one with the most minutes: 1,501, compared to 894 for Sporting and 816 for Benfica. This means that the minutes added up by FC Porto players accounted for approximately 47 percent of the players’ total playing time for the big three.
Accentuated wear on the eve of an April month in which the Porto players will have, from this Saturday, four games in a space of 11 days.
Of all the players assigned by the team coached by Sérgio Conceição, only one (Loum) was not used. Of the nine that Sporting conceded, Luís Maximiano (under-21 from Portugal) and Luís Neto (Portugal) did not add up any minute either. At Benfica, all six players who made the selections were used.
It should be noted that Gonzalo Plata, Sporting winger, played for Ecuador, but is not counted because he has been in the Leon B team for a few months.
