‘When they call you from Corinthians or Flamengo, the rest is in the background’

Mauro Boselli has already left the Corinthians but he still admires the club from São Paulo. Currently in the Cerro Porteño, the Argentine striker opened the game about the arrival at the Timonin 2019.

In an interview with the website 90 min, Boselli recalled when he left the Lion to sign with Corinthians. The Argentine revealed that he had one more proposal from Brazil, but, there was no possibility of not getting it right with the Alvinegro.

“At that moment, when I left Mexico, my manager had two proposals from Brazil, one of which was from Corinthians. The other was from another team that I don’t need to name ”, he started by saying.

“When an Argentine is told that River Plate or Boca Juniors they want to hire you, no matter how much another team also wants, you will listen to River or Boca’s proposal. It is the same case in Brazil. When they call you from Corinthians or Flamengo, the rest of the teams are in the background. I focused a lot on what was Corinthians as an institution. Any Brazilian player who asks which team he wants to play, Corinthians or Flamengo will answer ”, added the striker, before revealing that he was wrong to close with Corinthians before analyzing the team’s way of playing.

“I felt that when making the decision and, perhaps, I was a little wrong. I did not look at the way of playing that Corinthians had and what style best matched my style of play. I was wrong when it came to choosing the club. If you ask me today, I would make the same decision, because Corinthians is magnificent. Not only the team, but the club, the fans and everything that moves him. My mistake was in the choice, due to the style of play that the team had at that moment ”.

In two years wearing the white shirt, Boselli entered the field 67 times and scored 16 goals. In addition, the Argentine won the Paulista championship in 2019.
