Benfica returned to being the Portuguese club that paid the most in commissions to businessmen.
According to the annual document released by the Portuguese Football Federation regarding intermediaries and transactions, SAD incarnate spent 20.3 million euros in business intermediation services related to transfers or contract renewals.
Behind Benfica comes FC Porto, with 15.4 million euros paid. This is followed by Sp. Braga with 9.9 million euros and only then Sporting, with a charge of 8.5 million euros in intermediation services.
In the case of the so-called big three, the amounts paid, which cover the period of the pandemic, are lower than those reported in the document referring to the same period of 2019/20, when Benfica presented values of 34.3 million euros, the FC Porto of 23.7 million and Sporting of 16 million. Conversely, Sp. Braga’s SAD (3.3 last year) tripled the commissions paid.
Among League companies with contractual commissions, Moreirense paid the least: 38,750 euros. The amounts paid by SAD do Portimonense are not included in the document.
