The hiring occupies the post whose dream was Rafael Carioca. The Tigres-MEX midfielder even received a Gremista offer, but a disagreement between the clubs prevented the deal from being concluded.
Grêmio will pay just over one million dollars (R $ 5.6 million at the current price). The amount will be paid in four semiannual installments.
Two-time Brazilian champion for Palmeiras, Thiago Santos closed with Dallas last year. According to the Sports, he was seduced by the good proposal of Grêmio and agreed to return to Brazil, too, for the link of three seasons.
Thiago Santos had already been listed as a target of Grêmio throughout 2020. Another Brazilian player in the MLS, at the time, was also tempted: Junior Urso, ex-Corinthians and now a player of Orlando City.

Born in Curitiba, Thiago Santos began his career in Minas Gerais and achieved national prominence with the shirt of América Mineiro. In 2015, he moved to Palmeiras, where he stayed until the end of 2019. For the São Paulo team, Thiago Santos won the Brazilian Championship twice.
The player arrives in Porto Alegre in the coming days, for medical examinations and official presentation.
