We are a somewhat romantic team, but also a pragmatic one. Because that is what we are looking for, through the processes to achieve the results. We know that sometimes playing always beautiful does not always bring us results. We know that playing pragmatically does not always bring us results. This mix between pragmatism and romanticism leads us to what we want, which is success and winning titles. A club like Palmeiras is what it lives on – said the coach to TV Palmeiras (see the full video above).

– When I arrived I didn’t promise titles. This guys promise to fight to win, a great union, a strong identity. That is what we will continue to do.

The sporting year of 2020 was historic for Palmeiras. Before the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores, the club had already won the Campeonato Paulista, a performance that matched the feat achieved in 1993, when Verdão had last won three titles in the same season.

– We are confident for the new season, we know the high expectations that everyone has in us and we will work to ensure that those expectations are met. We will try to be more demanding, more disciplined, work with more focus, dedication and demand. Everyone wants to take our place and we have to protect our dreams and our titles. It is the same way that we have always done, realizing that we are all one, that it is through training that we will prepare for the battles that come, and remain united at all times – said Abel Ferreira.

With the stoppage of the Paulista Championship, Palmeiras will return to the field next Wednesday, April 7, when they face Defensa y Justicia for the first game of the final of the Recopa Sul-Americana, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
