SC Braga, communication director Francisco J. Marques and speaker Fernando Saúl, both from FC Porto, were targets of disciplinary proceedings, can be read in the statement released this Wednesday by the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation.
The Minho were targeted for the initiation of the action due to “statements made in a sports society newsletter with repercussions in the media, under the focus of offenses to honor or consideration, namely arbitration agents”, can be read in the document.
The newsletter was published after the reception to Benfica, which the arsenalistas lost 2-0 and which was marked by the expulsion of Fransérgio. At the end of the meeting, the president of the club, António Salvador went to the Press room to make harsh criticisms of João Pinheiro’s arbitration.
Francisco J. Marques is under the responsibility of the CD following “statements made in the media, focusing on offenses to honor or consideration, namely by arbitration agents”.
The disciplinary process to Fernando Saúl arose “following the disciplinary participation presented by Sporting Clube de Portugal – Futebol SAD, with the object of sharing publications on social networks”.
At stake are insults to the Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo and family, after the elimination of Juventus from the Champions League at the hands of FC Porto.
João Pica, a player from the Academico de Viseu, and Ramiro Sobral, general director of the viseenses, were also the target of disciplinary action for “statements made on social networks under the focus of offenses to honor or consideration of arbitration agents”.
