Dragons count nine goals scored by substitutes. Benfica adds one less and Sporting two.
The bank of FC Porto has been, since Saturday, the most profitable in the Liga NOS.
Sérgio Conceição’s use of substitutes has already yielded nine goals in 25 matches, one more than Benfica and two than Sporting, which only this Monday hit their respective calendars. Toni Martínez was the last investment made by the Porto coach to have an effect, after being launched in the 86th minute of the encounter with Santa Clara and having signed the shot that gave the dragons triumph at 90 ‘+ 5’, increasing to six the total points offered by elements who have started a particular game on the bench.
The Spaniard, in fact, is one of the most successful players in the squad as an alternate (two goals), alongside Evanilson (curiously they joined the Azoreans at the same time) and Luis Díaz. João Mário, Otávio and Taremi were the other assets that generated profit from the bank.
This season’s performance is even the highest of the four that Sérgio Conceição takes at Dragão, although on an equal footing with the previous season. The number of goals scored by substitutes in the age of the 46-year-old coach, incidentally, has been increasing with each season. In the first it was not past five, in the second it reached seven and in the most recent two it was nine. However, this has not yet ended, so there is room for improvement.
