In an interview with Round table, gives TV Gazeta, the ex-player explained that Corinthians has a great appeal and a crowd that can help the club out of this delicate situation.
“Corinthians has a huge crowd of over 30 million fans. As much as these numbers (debt) are gigantic and expressive, there are several ways to be able to generate new revenues so that these numbers can be reduced. It is different from other clubs that do not have such an expressive crowd and cannot generate as much revenue as Corinthians does ”, said the ex-player.
“It is evident that there is a need to put your foot on the brake, reduce expenses, agree with the crowd that in the coming years there will really be no investment, that the team may not be as competitive, until things get back on track and the team can go back to being the biggest in Brazil”, He completed.
Marked by a lawsuit against Corinthians, which gained notoriety and became a huge controversy when the club sent a document to TV Globo and CBF that said it could not accept to enter the field on Sundays and midweek at night to avoiding being the target of lawsuits like that of the former player, Paulo André explained that the situation was resolved in a conversation with Andrés Sanchez.
“It was resolved at the end of last year, in December. I went to Parque São Jorge, I met Andrés. We had some previous issues since 2014, when I left the club, which were poorly resolved. I went there, apologized to him, asked all the questions that led me to sue the club. He also asked all the questions that made him hurt, give the statements and do the things that were done, ”he said.
“We resolved ourselves, entered into an agreement. I told him that it was not a financial issue, that he could pay me what he thought was due. He defined the value and, since then, the club has honored with its installments. I think it’s even finalizing the deal this month, ”concluded the former defender.
For Timão, Paulo André played 153 times, scored ten goals and won no less than five titles: Paulista (2013), Brazilian (2011), Recopa Sul-Americana (2013), Libertadores (2012) and Club World Cup (2012) .
