The synopsis of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was revealed this Thursday, April 1st (via CB), and gives details of the setting of the new film and the role of Umbrella Corporation in its events, confirming the mix of elements from the first two games of the horror franchise of Capcom. “Once the growing home of the pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern city. The company’s exodus turned the city into a desolate land … with great evil brewing beneath the surface. When this evil spreads, the local population will be … changed … forever and a small group of survivors will need to work together to discover the truth behind Umbrella and survive the night.“.
Directed by Johannes Roberts, Welcome to Raccoon City will be an adaptation of the first two games in the series, and will show infestation of zombies infected by the T-Virus that devastated Raccoon City in 1998. The mansion of the first Resident Evil and the police station of the second will be in the film.
In addition to the cinematic reboot, Resident Evil will also win a CGI animation by Netflix called Resident Evil: In the Absolute Dark and a live-action series also from Netflix about the Wesker sisters.
