After losing star, Netflix unveils new Bridgerton actors

Regé-Jean Page will not return to the second season of Bridgerton and to fill that gap, the Netflix series has announced new additions to the cast.

Charithra Chandran, Shelley Conn, Calam Lynch, and Rupert Young will be in the second year of the series, reports Joe Otterson of Variety.

Chandran will be Edwina Sharma, who was taught by her older sister Kate to be the perfect debutante.

Conn will be Mary Sharma in Bridgerton, an earl’s daughter, whose marriage to a merchant once involved her family in scandal.

Lady Mary has now returned to London with her own daughters and is forced to endure the scrutiny of high society once again.

Lynch, in turn, will be Theo Sharpe, a worker and thinker who fights for the rights of all.

Young will be Jack, connected to one of Bridgerton’s most notable families.

The production follows the history of the Bridgerton Family, a clan of aristocrats living in London during the Regency period, in the early 19th century.

Even lasting a few decades, the Regency is known as a time of great advances and differentiated trends in the fine arts, architecture, fashion and etiquette.

Bridgerton focuses mainly on the Bridgertons’ firstborn: Daphne. The young woman is looking for true love and a suitable marriage after being introduced to society in 1813 by Queen Charlotte.

While dealing with the expectations of the elite, Daphne is forced to deal with the scandalous rumors spread by Lady Whistledown, the mysterious author of a “gossip bulletin” published weekly.

Although she is not the showrunner for Netflix’s new production, Shonda Rhimes remains a big influence as an executive producer. The command of the series is with Chris Van Dusen.

Bridgerton’s cast consists mainly of British actors, many of whom are unknown to the international audience.

A série conta com Phoebe Dynevor (Younger), Regé-Jean Page (For the People), Jonathan Bailey (Doctor Who), Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls), Claudia Jessie (Call The Midwife), Adjoa Andoh (Invictus), Lorraine Ashborn (King Kong), Sabrina Bartlett (Game of Thrones), Harriet Cains (In The Flesh), Bessie Carter (Os Miseráveis) e Ruth Gemmell (Penny Dreadful) em seu elenco.

Bridgerton is available on Netflix. The second season has no premiere yet.
