The legendary singer Bruce Dickinson participated in the program “The Rock Show With Johnnie Walker”, aired by the BBC. During his participation, the frontman of IRON MAIDEN, who owns one of the most emblematic voices in metal, revealed who his “God of rock” is.

Bruce’s main inspiration was also born in England and sings in one of the most important bands of all time: Ian Gillan, from DEEP PURPLE. And it was through the British quintet that Bruce became interested in music, as excerpt transcribed and published by Blabbermouth this Saturday (April 3rd). “So, there I was as a young teenager and there was a noise coming from someone’s door. So I opened the door and [perguntei], ‘What the hell is this?’ And it was ‘Speed King’ by DEEP PURPLE, track on the album ‘Deep Purple In Rock’. And that’s what got me started “.
In another excerpt, Bruce recalled an unusual situation involving his idol. “Not only did I meet him, I went on tour with him when I was in a band called SAMSON [grupo que ele fazia parte antes de integrar o IRON MAIDEN]. I’m in a studio. We made an album at Ian Gillan’s studio. We were all in the pub and had a few drinks. Ian Gillan comes in and says, ‘Hey, what a great singer. Who is the singer? ‘At that moment, I felt a sudden urge to throw up. I ran out, threw up a lot in the bathroom when my idol came in, kicked the door and said, ‘Come on, man. We will clean you with a towel. ‘ He put me in a taxi and sent me home. I never forgot that, and he never let me forget too, “said braggart Bruce Dickinson.
IRON MAIDEN’s most recent work is the live “Nights Of The Dead, Legacy Of The Beast: Live In Mexico City”, released in November 2020. As for DEEP PURPLE, the band that features the vocals of Bruce’s idol released “Woosh!” in August last year. Press play and understand why Bruce admires the endless Ian Gillan so much.
