Vaccination against Covid-19 in Americana took place quietly this Thursday morning (1st), at the drive-thru of the city’s entrance portal, on Avenida Antônio Pinto Duarte. Today was the first day of immunization for the 68-year-old, who had an early date.

Despite the large number of vehicles in the queue, there was no damage to traffic and vaccination took place in an organized manner by the municipality’s health team.

According to Gama (American Municipal Guard), around 8:30 am, approximately 150 vehicles were waiting for the elderly to receive the 1st dose of the immunizer.

Retired José Joaquim Soares, 68, arrived at the drive-thru at 4:24 am. He reported that they have been following the news about vaccination and, as soon as he saw the information in the immunization communication vehicles for his target audience, it was already programmed and this Thursday secured the first place in the queue.

“I expected to have been vaccinated in February, it was delayed, right, but the important thing that I will now receive the 1st dose”, said the retiree to LIBERAL.

Vaccination for this public was expected to happen initially only on the 5th of April, but with the arrival of 4,090 doses, Americana was able to anticipate the start of application of the doses.

The portal’s drive-thru will continue to apply the 1st dose for the elderly over 68 years old. Opening hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. In addition to this location, the citizen can schedule the vaccination at one of the UBSs (Basic Health Unit), requiring scheduling on the website of the Department of Health.
