Hope and anxiety are common feelings among people who have already received the Covid-19 vaccine. The great expectation for the return to normality ignites the alert for the need for continuity of care, in order to avoid the transmission of Sars-CoV-2. Experts point out that immunization does not yet have evidence to prevent the circulation of viruses.

“Vaccines are immunized, but that does not prevent him from contracting the coronavirus. Immunity offers you the guarantee of not having serious illnesses, but there is still no consensus that the immunized person, when he catches the virus, transmits it or not ”, said infectologist Adielma Nizarala, who works for the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS) .

Immunization takes place after the 14th or 21st day after the second dose of the vaccine. However, the infectologist affirms that, even after this period, it is necessary to comply with the security protocols against the virus.

“We have different vaccines on the market, so there is a variation in the immunization time. But, regardless of the vaccine applied, precautionary measures have to continue because as long as herd immunity does not exist, the virus still circulates. Therefore, it is important that this person remains wearing the mask. ” said Adielma.

The infectologist explains that herd immunity happens when the virus has more and more difficulty to be transmitted. “Probably, when 75% to 80% of the population is vaccinated, Sars-CoV-2 will not find people susceptible to the disease. It is as if the virus is losing its ability to infect. As there are no new people to be contaminated, it ends up disappearing naturally. In the meantime, we must continue with care, ”he said.

Mask and hygiene – Artisan Stela Tourinho, 85, took the last dose of the vaccine on March 7, and even immunized, persists in the care against Covid-19. “I understand the severity of the disease, and I know that thinking about the community is extremely important for the moment that we are living. I live with my husband, who is also vaccinated, and we continue to use the mask, cleaning everything and leaving only for medical appointments or the market ”, she declared.
