With the increase in cases of COVID-19 and the growing demand for hospitalizations of patients with the disease, the technical director of Hospital Ibiapaba CEBAMS de Barbacena, Dr. Julio Cesar de Andrade, makes an appeal to the population. With the occupation of 100% of the beds available for Covid-19 at the institution, the director warns that the moment is worrying and critical.
According to him, supplies and medications for sedation and analgesia in the hospital are rapidly decreasing. “What we are going through today is a little bit close to what we went through last year, now we really hit rock bottom, people of much younger age group occupying the beds of the ICU (Intensive Care Center), and dying. Mortality is very high, “he said.
The hospital asks the population of Barbacena and the entire region to protect themselves and take care of themselves and also emphasizes the importance of vaccination, asking that elderly and priority people do not stop vaccinating for fear. If there is any doubt regarding the immunizing agent, the guidance is that the doubts are resolved with health professionals, such as doctors and nurses from the Basic Health Units (UBS).
Dr. Julio Cesar de Andrade also stressed that it is important to remember that people who have had COVID-19 and vaccinated people can acquire and transmit the disease, therefore care such as wearing a mask, social distance, hand hygiene, use of gel alcohol must be maintained.
