The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) determined that medicines from the so-called “intubation kit” can only be exported after “prior authorization” granted by the agency’s collegiate board. The requirement is temporary and will “automatically cease” as soon as the Ministry of Health recognizes that the public health emergency situation resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic is no longer present in the country.

These drugs are used to intubate Covid-19 patients in serious condition. Several states in Brazil report shortages of products and have been asking for federal help to replenish stocks and guarantee service. Anvisa’s resolution is published in the Official Gazette (DOU) of this Wednesday (31). The mandatory approval of Anvisa already reached medical oxygen and vaccines against Covid-19 since the beginning of March.
