Invited by the CSP member, state deputy Wilker Barreto (Pode), by means of an invitation approved at the Legislative House, on March 23, the managers will need to inform the population about the progress of the fight against the virus, and reveal what strategies will be adopted in a scenario of imminent reinfection.
“It is not just now that they alert the Amazon to a third wave. The FVS secretary and director need to prepare the people of the Amazon. We cannot be caught in short pants, as it was in the second wave. We want to know how is the interior, the beds of ICUs (Intensive Care Units)… If the government has competence, it needs to prepare the population, ”said Barreto.
Researcher Lucas Ferrante, who is part of the group of researchers who predicted the second wave in Amazonas, four months in advance, will be at the Assembly again. “Manaus had many mistakes in dealing with the pandemic, which was almost on purpose. This problem could have been solved months in advance if our studies had been considered. In this moment that Brazil lives with second and third waves in several capitals, in several states, a third wave for Manaus can be even more devastating ”, said the scientist in an interview to the press.
In addition to the members of the commission, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP-AM), the Public Defender’s Office (DPE-AM), the Municipal Health Secretariat (Semsa), Fiocruz and other authorities must participate in the hearing.
