Vaccination against Covid-19 continues at an accelerated pace over Easter weekend

With stocks replenished, several municipalities in the state of Rio Grande do Sul responded to the appeal of the Department of Health (SES) and carried out joint efforts to accelerate vaccination against Covid-19 this Saturday (3/4). In different cities, the Army helped with the logistics of drive-thrus and the application of doses.

The Secretary of Health, Arita Bergmann, said she was very grateful for the efforts of the municipal managers, the regional coordinators and the volunteers who made the task force for vaccination on Easter holiday work. “A good vaccine is a vaccine in the arm, and together we will be able to overcome this difficult moment. I am very touched by everyone’s participation”, emphasized Arita.

In many vaccination points, volunteers were called in to reinforce the teams, including university students from courses related to health. On Sunday (4/4) Easter, there will also be vaccination in some municipalities.

“There is a huge mobilization in the interior to apply the doses to the priority groups, which now include the security forces. As the duty was to apply the doses, the numbers will be inserted in the next days in the system, and then we will know how much the effort will impact on vaccination coverage, but I risk saying that we are advancing very quickly ”, said Ana Costa, director of the Primary Care and Health Policies of SES.

In Santa Rosa, in the northwest of the state, vaccination gave priority to the security forces, but the reinforcement in the vaccine stock that arrived on Friday (2/4) will allow, in the coming days, to advance even more in the immunization of elderly. “It’s going really fast. We have already vaccinated the 66-year-old age group and I believe that next Tuesday (6) we will reach 64 years of age, in addition to continuing to apply the second dose ”, said the municipal health secretary of Santa Rosa, Delcio Stefan.

For the assistant coordinator of the 4th Regional Health Coordination, based in Santa Maria, Carla Boniatti, the arrival of doses was essential to accelerate immunization in the Central region. “Several municipalities managed to vaccinate even on Friday and this Saturday. Priority was given to the age group of 65 years or more and the security forces. Tomorrow, on Easter Sunday, we will continue to be mobilized, and the municipalities are with their teams attentive to deliver the doses ”, he added.

Dressed up and wearing masks, actors from the Armazém Cultura e Entretenimento company visited all the vaccination points in Santa Maria, such as the parking lot at Praça Nova shopping center and the gymnasium at Clube Recreativo Dores.

Where there was no special action, the sunny day was another incentive for Covid-19 vaccine target audiences at this stage of the campaign to look for dose application points to be immunized. The scene was repeated in municipalities in different regions of the state, as shown in the photos that illustrate this news.
