PBH Committee meets on Wednesday to assess Covid-19 pandemic

Meeting next Wednesday (7) will be dedicated to the analysis of epidemiological indicators in Belo Horizonte, which, in recent days, have shown a tendency towards stability

Twenty-five days after start of the application of strict sanitary measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in the capital of Minas Gerais, the Covid-19 Coping Committee of the Belo Horizonte City Hall (PBH) will meet next Wednesday (7) for an assessment of the epidemiological situation in the city based on indicators such as the occupation of the beds of the Therapy Unit Intensive Care (ICU) dedicated to care for patients infected with coronavirus and the contamination index (RT).

The meeting was announced this Saturday (3) by PBH. “We are going to make a general assessment of the situation, but we can say that the numbers are stable”, reveals the Municipal Secretary of Health, Jackson Machado Pinto. After days of elevation in the indicators, some stability was noticed in the last week with a drop in the contamination index and in the occupation of the beds – both in ICUs and in the Covid-19 wards, as detailed by the Belo Horizonte City Hall.

The improvement, however, does not invalidate the need to maintain social distance and other health practices such as wearing masks and constant hand hygiene with water and soap or gel alcohol.
