Worried, he took a 2nd dose of the vaccine

The singer Agnaldo Timóteo, who died today at the age of 84 from covid-19, had taken the second dose of the vaccine against the disease two days before being admitted. The Butantan Institute explains on its website that it is possible to become infected even after vaccination and that, after receiving the second dose, it takes a few weeks to achieve greater immunity.

“In conclusion, some people may still have the disease or infection even though they have been vaccinated, but they may have a less severe form of the disease due to this vaccination,” says the note from Butantan.

The artist’s advice confirmed to the Twitter that he took the first dose on the 15th of February and the second dose on the 15th of March. Timóteo was admitted to the Casa São Bernardo Hospital, in Barra da Tijuca, west of Rio de Janeiro, on March 17th.

The interval between the second dose and the artist’s hospitalization is short and indicates an infection before vaccination. It is not the first record of a person who contracted the disease after receiving both doses.

Singer asked risk group to respect medical guidelines

Timóteo had already spoken out in defense of compliance with protocols against the covid-19. In April 2020, during an interview with TV Globo, he declared that he was concerned about the disease that “stopped everyone.”

I am living the reality of the planet. Indoors for over a month without being able to work. Very worried because the disease is very serious stopped the Brazilian nation and stopped the whole world. I hope that all of my time, 50 [década de 1950] forward, meet the needs determined by medicine
Agnaldo Timóteo in an interview with Hora 1 on April 22, 2020

On January 20 this year, he participated in a live charity at the Sanctuary Christ the Redeemer to help families and institutions during the covid-19 pandemic.

“We are grateful for the immense chain of faith that the world and, especially, Brazilian society is doing in favor of the great struggle for human survival in the fight against covid-19. An unprecedented show in my musical career”, said Timóteo to the responsible communication team through the sanctuary.

The singer also composed a song last year, called “Epidemic”.

“God, the epidemic is a curse. Billions of innocents in prison, waiting for a miracle of yours. (…) God, spread your blessings, clean the air. Again humanity will gain peace and freedom to go and come, “says an excerpt from the song.

The death of the artist is mourned by celebrities across the country.
