Companies that offered early treatment employees are targeted by the Public Labor Ministry (MPT). Among the complaints received by the agency, there are companies from Santa Catarina. Investigations, however, will be conducted in Brasília, by the Covid-19 GT.

The case came to light after the BBC Brazil published a report indicating that at least four companies in São Paulo, Paraná and Santa Catarina gave the ‘kit Covid’ for workers – a set of drugs that includes drugs that are not effective in preventing Covid-19, such as chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, ivermectina, azithromycin and vitamins.

The MPT will determine whether, when providing early treatment for employees, companies put at risk workers’ lives. The manufacturers of chloroquine and ivermectin have already gone public to attest that the drugs do not work to prevent or treat Covid-19. Last Wednesday (31), the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended that the vermifuge ivermectin should not be used for coronavirus, except in research.

In addition to the lack of effectiveness, experts indicate that early treatment can lead to more severe cases of Covid-19. In January, doctors heard by the spine reported a risk of worsening heart problems, pancreatitis, and worsening the body’s expected response to the coronavirus.

> Chapecó reinforced ‘early treatment’ one month before the collapse in Health

The distribution of Covid kit by companies in Santa Catarina is known to the authorities. In February, for example, the mayor of Chapecó, João Rodrigues, told the column that the treatment had been offered by industries in the West and “worked”. The speech was to comment on the initiative of the city to invest in early treatment at the beginning of the year.

– Early treatment does not harm the citizen. What it can do is lessen the effects of something more serious. Not all doctors have adopted it, it is a matter for the professional, it is a right that the doctor has and I cannot impose this, but we request that everyone adopt it. All over Brazil it has worked. We have hundreds of testimonials from companies where employees were showing some symptoms and it worked. I have no doubt that it is the best way – said the mayor at the time.
