O President of Argentina, Alberto Fernndez, who turned 62 this Friday (2), informed this morning through his social networks that tested positive for COVID-19.

On Twitter, Fernndez said he had a fever of 37.3ºC and felt a slight headache.
“Although we are awaiting confirmation by the PCR test, I am already isolated, following the protocol in force and following the guidelines of my personal doctor,” he wrote.The antigen test is a quick detection by nasal or throat swab, but it is less sensitive than the molecular or PCR test.

“I got in touch with the people I met with in the past 48 hours to assess whether they are a close contact so they can isolate them,” said Fernndez.

“I wanted to say that at the end of today, after presenting a fever record of 37.3 and a mild headache, I had an antigen test which was positive,” added the president.

“Although I would have liked to end my birthday without this news, I am also in a good mood,” he said.Argentina is facing a second wave of coronaviruses with an escalation of infections.

According to official figures, the South American country, with 44 million inhabitants, has more than 2.3 million infections and 56,023 deaths due to COVID-19.

The Argentine president completed the schedule of two doses of the Sputnik V vaccine, from the Russian laboratory Gamaleya, the first received on January 21 and the second on February 11, AFP sources said.

This Saturday (3/4), the Russian center responsible for creating the vaccine regretted that Fernndez tested positive for COVID-19.

“We are saddened by what happened. Sputnik V is 91.6% effective against infections and 100% effective against severe cases. If the infection is confirmed, vaccination guarantees a quick recovery without serious symptoms,” wrote the Gamaleya Center for Microbiology and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia on the social network Twitter.
