O President of Argentina, Alberto Fernndez, who turned 62 this Friday (2), informed this morning through his social networks that tested positive for COVID-19.
“I got in touch with the people I met with in the past 48 hours to assess whether they are a close contact so they can isolate them,” said Fernndez.
“I wanted to say that at the end of today, after presenting a fever record of 37.3 and a mild headache, I had an antigen test which was positive,” added the president.
According to official figures, the South American country, with 44 million inhabitants, has more than 2.3 million infections and 56,023 deaths due to COVID-19.
The Argentine president completed the schedule of two doses of the Sputnik V vaccine, from the Russian laboratory Gamaleya, the first received on January 21 and the second on February 11, AFP sources said.
“We are saddened by what happened. Sputnik V is 91.6% effective against infections and 100% effective against severe cases. If the infection is confirmed, vaccination guarantees a quick recovery without serious symptoms,” wrote the Gamaleya Center for Microbiology and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia on the social network Twitter.
