Mato Grosso do Sul confirms 42 deaths and 1,502 cases of covid-19 this Friday (2), according to an epidemiological bulletin. The moving average of deaths had a modest reduction in relation to the last days, but the State is, by far, the most lethal and critical moment of the coronavirus pandemic.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 218,900 confirmed cases of the disease. So far, 198,300 have recovered from the virus – 4,376 have died, and the more than 15,000 still deal with the virus active in the body.
Of these, most (14,800) are in isolation at home and 1,316 are hospitalized in clinical or intensive care beds. This high number of hospitalizations causes some hospitals in Mato Grosso do Sul to operate at capacity limits, making it difficult for people to access hospital beds.
The macro-region of Campo Grande, which encompasses Capital and 19 other municipalities, has an occupancy rate of 106% – the vast majority (73%) of which are only patients positive for coronavirus. This means that there are no beds available, and that there is still a surplus of 6% of patients in impromptu and inadequate units.
Among the deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, almost half (17) were of people under 60 years of age. The data for each municipality, consolidated by SES (State Health Secretariat), can be checked through the link.
