Since March 17, Brazil has maintained an average of over 2 thousand. Now it has reached a new level, which keeps the country with the highest average in the world at the moment. It is still a reflection of March, the month with the highest numbers of deaths and cases throughout the pandemic.
The number of deaths by covid in Brazil was 3,673 in the last 24 hours and 325,559 in total. New cases of the disease confirmed on the day were 89,459 on the day and 12,842,717 during the entire pandemic. According to the Ministry of Health, Brazil has 11,169,937 recovered.
The last week was the one that accumulated the most deaths in the entire pandemic. The deaths in March surpassed the highest previous mark, in July last year, when 32,900 people died from the coronavirus.
The scenario is formed by a considerable worsening in the data of States in the different regions. Nine states and the Federal District had more than a hundred deaths in the last 24 hours: São Paulo (1,082), Minas Gerais (396), Rio de Janeiro (387), Rio Grande do Sul (327), Paraná (224), Santa Catarina (138), Bahia (142), Distrito Federal (121), Ceará (119) and Pará (116).
Consortium gathers data since June 8
The balance of deaths and cases is the result of a partnership between the six media outlets that began to work, since June 8, in a collaborative way to gather the necessary information in the 26 states and the Federal District. The unprecedented initiative is a response to the Bolsonaro government’s decision to restrict access to data on the pandemic, but it was maintained after government records continued to be released.
