Rio MP investigates suspected deaths of covid-19 patients due to lack of oxygen

RIO – O Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rio (MP-RJ) investigates covid-19 patients hospitalized not Arraial do Cabo General Hospital, municipality of Lakes Region from Rio de Janeiro, died of lack of oxygen. The complaint was lodged with the Rio Public Defender’s Office family members of the deceased and health professionals. Between March 21 and 28, at least five people would have died from lack of the input. The city government denies it.

“Since December, the Public Defender’s Office has noticed the precarious conditions of care at the Arraial do Cabo hospital. In a joint inspection with the Cremerj (Regional Council of Medicine), we note the lack of health professionals, medicines and essential supplies for patients infected with covid-19 “, said the public defender Raphaela jahara, gives Health Coordination and Collective Guardianship.

In view of the complaint received by the Defender, a 3rd Public Prosecutor’s Office for Collective Protection – Núcleo Cabo Frio sent on Wednesday, 31, a letter to the city of Arraial do Cabo to clarify the complaints within 48 hours. It also asks the municipal administration to forward the medical records of the patients treated, to find out the facts.
