Known in Campo Grande as owner of Churrascaria Ponteio, Milton Lopes das Neves, 81, died on Wednesday night (31), after complications from covid-19. He had already taken both doses of the vaccine against the disease, which serves as a warning about the time needed for the effect of the immunization.
The first dose was on the 14th of February and already on the 23rd of the same month, she presented symptoms such as high fever, vomiting and slow heartbeat. Milton was taken to the UPA (Emergency Care Unit) and medicated with antibiotics, taken for seven days. “He was not hospitalized, he went every day to take medication at the UPA in Vila Almeida”.
After the week, he showed improvement, but three days after taking the second dose of the vaccine, according to family information, he had reactions again and needed to be hospitalized last Friday (29) at the UPA. “He was very bad, he had no improvement. On Saturday, he was going to intubate, but he couldn’t get a place at the Regional Hospital”, says Ana Christina, Milton’s daughter-in-law.
That Wednesday (31), in the afternoon, he had two cardiac arrests and around 9:00 pm he couldn’t resist and ended up dying. He had no comorbidities, according to information from family members, but the cause of death was recorded as being by covid-19. There was no wake and the burial was restricted to family members this Thursday morning (1).
Vaccine efficiency – The infectologist Marian Croda guarantees that “there are no reports of serious effects happening after the vaccine. Much less does the vaccine have the capacity to generate the disease. The virus does not have this capacity in any of the vaccines that are available”.
According to her “the effects are usually local pain, it can give you a fever, but they are mild. We already have millions of people who have already taken it. So, we can already be sure that the vaccine does not cause any serious event”.
But the warning is that the vaccine does not prevent the person from being immediately free of the virus. ‘It takes two weeks after the second one to start having protection “, he explains.
History – The Churrascaria Ponteio no longer exists at the address where it stayed for almost 30 years on Rua 14 de Julho corner with Avenida Fernando Corrêa da Costa, number 1346, in Campo Grande. Since opening in August 73, the restaurant remained Milton’s “apple of the eye” until its closure in December 2001 – already in the hands of his son Milton Luis, 56, known as Miltinho.
The patriarch left São Paulo to start a new adventure with his family in Campo Grande. As he has always been a food business owner, it was not difficult to embark on a new venture. Ponteio was a pioneer in many things for the time, such as the carvery, central air conditioning, in addition to a maitre d ‘at the entrance and deliveries by telephone.
