A human error at a Baltimore plant in the US USA, caused the waste of 15 million doses of vaccine against Covid-19 developed by Johnson & Johnson. According to the American newspaper The New York Times, the accident happened because the facility managed by Emergent BioSolutions mixed the ingredients of two different immunizers against the new coronavirus that are being produced on site. In a press release, the pharmacist confirmed that during the quality control process it identified a drug substance that did not meet the standards. For this reason, Johnson & Johnson will be present at the plant to oversee the production of the vaccine against Covid-19 from now on. The case is also being investigated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the US regulatory agency. The error is expected to delay delivery of the immunizer to the United States, which should receive a total of 100 million units by the end of May. The great advantage of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is that it can be applied in a single dose, so the expectation is that it will accelerate the immunization campaign in the country even more.
