A mass testing program with free rapid tests in the ten parishes in Lisbon with the highest incidence of covid-19 started this Wednesday morning, with a membership of 68 pharmacies for now.

“What this program does is add a new layer of protection and ensure that the people in the parishes who are at the limit of the lack of definition […] they have the possibility to carry out two tests per month free of charge “, said Fernando Medina, who symbolically marked the initiative by being present, as well as the president of the National Pharmacy Association, in a pharmacy in Marvila.

The mayor said that there are currently 68 participating pharmacies, but that the number could reach more than 200 in the coming days.

The parishes included in the testing program are those of Ajuda, Alvalade, Arroios, Estrela, Marvila, Olivais, São Vicente, Santa Clara, Santa Maria Maior and Santo António.

However, this situation may change, as the percentage of covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants also changes, said Medina.

The list of participating pharmacies is available on the websites of CML and ANF.

The tests can be booked in person at the participating pharmacies or through the number 1400, which operates 24 hours a day.
